Update and an Important Message from our President:

Talking Points from our first Senate meeting (Sept 18) are now available.  Check Member Resources – Meeting Minutes for more information.

Beware of Deceptive mailings

Many of our members have received one or even two duplicate mailers from the Illinois Policy Institute (IPI) encouraging members to drop their union membership.  If you receive an IPI mailer, we are advising members to either discard or write – “Return to Sender” and #StrongerUnited on the envelope and placing it back in the mail.

From the IPI website, they are specifically targeting school districts including Indian Prairie employees in an attempt to weaken your employee rights and your IPCA association.  Sadly, if you look closely at the form letter included, it does NOT even refer to our local association, Indian Prairie Classified Association.  What does that tell you about IPI?  Still have questions about what the IPI is, or what they’re trying to do, please view this video and for more detailed information click here.

Unfortunately, the mailer only tells half the story and half truths about your union.  Your IPCA membership provides significant liability protection and representation should an adverse employment action occur (click here to see member rights and benefits).  If you have questions about how your dues dollars are spent click here and member benefits lost if you were to drop click here.

Make no mistake, this is a direct assault on your rights and our association strength to collectively bargain and advocate for our students, our members, and public education. This is likely the first of many attempts to undermine our rights. So be on the look out.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your building’s Senator or me, Lisa Ramos.   Thank you for all you do every day for our students and IPCA.

Remember:  Together we can do what we cannot do alone.

IPCA Bargaining Survey – Thank you to all who completed the survey

We had 326 members complete the bargaining survey.  Thank you to all who have given your feedback.  The Bargaining team met on September 11 to review the information and prepare to resume negotiations with the district in the coming weeks.  Please check for bargaining updates under the Member Resources Tab.
